Sailor Bar, Fair Oaks, CA

This is a painting from Sailor Bar located in Fair Oaks, CA. Great painting and fishing spot.
I decided I needed to get back to the basics with oil painting.  I used a limited palette, blocked in the light and dark with transparent wash made with transparent red oxide and ultramarine blue, and kept the shapes abstract and simple.

Hi Eva! I've been thinking about you and where you might be hanging out right now. I adore this little piece.
You may have heard about my plans to move to Truckee. Not so far away. I'm moving into a nice little studio space where I can paint and teach. But also I want to teach workshops in Sacramento and other California locations next year. I have to make the transition next month and then I'll work on my calendar. Thinking about a workshop or two at the School of Light and Color. Can you offer any suggestions for what the students there want?

I just miss you. Ran

Hello Randy, I think your approach to composition and value with large shapes would be a great. Brush work with bold strokes, too. I will ask around.
I can't wait to visit your new studio in Truckee. Truckee is beautiful. I spent a lot of time there when I live in Nevada City. Your are so blessed!
I hope to see you soon.
