This Is As Far As I Go With This

I  created this from a class study from yesterday. I stopped where I stopped on my  study.  This is as far as I am going to take it since I don't have a photograph of the setup.

Learning The Art To Layering Paint

Okay - I am back to painting and posting... thank goodness.  Here is another study to completion where the paint is layered to keep each under painting. Quite the effect, isn't it? I am learning this technique from Susan Sarback at the School Of Light and Color in Fair Oaks, CA.

Sailor Bar With Color

I paint on canvas sheets when  I am in a class or workshop.  Last week I was in a wonder landscape class with Terry Muira when I painted the top study. Today I am in Susan Sarback's class painting the botton study. Same scene but different approaches.  Neither are rendered to completion but notice the difference in styles. Amazing.

Sailor Bar, Fair Oaks, CA

This is a painting from Sailor Bar located in Fair Oaks, CA. Great painting and fishing spot.
I decided I needed to get back to the basics with oil painting.  I used a limited palette, blocked in the light and dark with transparent wash made with transparent red oxide and ultramarine blue, and kept the shapes abstract and simple.

American River At Watt Avenue Park

I went out painting with a dear artist friend along the American River at a spot I like to paint. What a beautiful day with the leaves turning.  Best part is the salmon are also running. I asked several successful fishermen what they were using and they said a bead set up. Now a fisherman wouldn't lie to me. Would he?

I Will Try This One Again

This is a watercolor of small blind kitten. He blindness was due to a head injury and does remarkably well.
I was sent a picture of him and did a drawing and this watercolor. I don't think I have it quite right yet so I will try it again.

Kitten In Progress

I found this adorable cat in my email and had to paint him. This is the drawing before I start masking it in.

It Was A Great Summer

Here are some fun beach pictures of this past summer. I loved hiking the beaches, exploring the tide pools and painting. These pictures were either by me, my husband or my good friend Lin.

Tree Practice

Sometimes I think I have figured out how to paint tree. Other times, it is as if I have never painted one in my entire life.  I will never give up.

Sailor Bar Pond

Here is a painting from Sailor Bar Pond in Fairs Oaks, CA that I painted on canvas sheet. I cropped it to make it a better composition. By the way, the gnats were thick. That is what you see stuck in my painting.

Here is another post of the watercolor cat I did the other day with some slight changes.
